Heeeeyoooooo! Thanks to all of you that came out to the opening of Expansion last weekend. I had a blast sharing my work, playing records, and seeing all of you. I even enjoyed giving a talk about it. All of the work is now available to view and purchase on the site. Lately, if I’m not thinking about art, I’m thinking about tariffs. Trump’s latest MAGA move to is likely to sink OneClock, the analog clock company I have been working on since early 2020. With tariffs currently set at 145%, and a massive trade war with China becoming more likely every day, it’s not looking good. Then there is his assault on higher education, withholding critical research funding in order to get universities to change how they hire, teach, and think. Now that my oldest (Kinley) is heading of to college this fall at UCSB, it’s especially concerning. Not to mention the hit that our college fund took as a result of his sheer incompetence. Last night, I woke up suddenly at around 2:30am, full of anger toward Trump. It was a strange experience, to wake up in the middle of the night feeling like this. I’m not sure where to put this energy. So in the interest of keeping this newsletter true to writing what’s on my mind, here you go. I’m frustrated, pissed, and I’m not sure what to do about it. Trump is destroying our government, our country and our planet. And for what it’s worth, this does not feel political, it feels existential. If anyone has any ideas, I’m open.
