Hi All, As the days get shorter, and the temps get colder, we slide into a sort of hibernation. We spend more time indoors, see people less, spend more time thinking, less time doing. We slow down and conserve. Which makes sense, given our past as hunter gatherers, and the need to survive long, cold winters. The contrast of this cycle is interesting to me. Movement and hunting and gathering makes slowing down more meaningful, when the seasons call us to do so. Welcoming and embracing that slowness then makes coming out of hibernation more vibrant and vital. Contrast is what makes life interesting.
For me, fall is a time to look through all the stuff I’ve gathered, figure out what is speaking to me, and hunker down to create something new. And I’m happy to say that for the last few months, I’ve been busy making new work from things I gathered in Japan — work that I am super excited to share when it’s ready. I’m actually eager to finish writing this newsletter so that I can get back to it.
