Ohayo! Our six-month stay in Japan is coming to an end. On the 28th, we head to Sri Lanka for two weeks before continuing on to Paris, then south to see the finale of the Tour de France. Then, it’s back to Colorado by the end of July, at which point we will have completed a full lap around our beautiful little blue planet. It’s impossible to count or know the ways my time here will change me. I have seen, heard, and absorbed so much, but haven’t had time to fully process these new ideas or integrate them into my life and work. What I can say with certainty is that I love Japan deeply, and I feel incredibly fortunate for my time here. This Saturday the 15th is the opening of my next show, Genten. The title is a Japanese word that translates to “origin” or “starting point.” While the show is a great way to conclude my time here and bid farewell to this magical place, it doesn’t feel like an end.
