Konnichiwa! We’re over four months into our six month stay in Tokyo, and loving it more than ever. Every day, I have at least one moment of intense gratitude for this experience, and for this wondrous, magical city. Yesterday, this moment happened in late afternoon, when the sun was streaming in low, bouncing off and around the tile and glass buildings, bathing this funky pocket of Nakameguro in a radiant, golden glow. I rode my bike into a mural-filled tunnel just as a group of uniformed schoolkids walked by, their singsong voices and laughter filling the space with resonant, musical chatter. Tokyo is so good at producing these banal yet awe-inspiring moments of beautiful convergence. I’m addicted. In other news, my show, Genten, is one month away.
