Happy New Year? Is anyone else tired of talking about how “weird” last the last few years have been, or how “crazy” life is? Our conversations seem to inevitably veer into Covid, fires, climate, politics, racism, division, and other subjects that leave us with feelings of hopelessness and despair. It’s important stuff, but it’s a heavy load to carry. So it was refreshing to get a year end note from David Byrne’s Reasons To Be Cheerful, highlighting some of the good things (192 to be exact) that happened in 2021. It was a very welcome reminder that there is always something positive happening, somewhere. And, happy birthday to Dr. Martin Luther King, who offered the encouragement that “we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope." Happy New Year! Jamie
